WinDisp Edit MenuCopyClicking on this menu item causes the current display to be copied to the clipboard. Once this has been done another application such as Paint or PowerPoint can be opened and the image copied from the clipboard. When the current display contains an image, the act of opening another application such as Paint results in WinDisp losing control of its colour palette. So although the image will generally appear correctly in the application into which it is pasted, both the application and WinDisp will need to be closed and WinDisp restarted in order for subsequent image display to operate correctly. Option | Inverse VideoClicking on this menu item turns on inverse video display mode in which the graphics window is set to black and all black lines and text are displayed as white. All other colours are unaffected. This mode is useful for the production of slides where a layout on a black background projects much better than white. WinDisp remains in inverse mode once this option is selected and any current layout will need to be redisplayed for it to be displayed correctly. Inverse video mode is turned of by clicking on the Inverse Video menu item. Option | Display CoordinatesThis menu item has three sub-items:
The default setting for this item is Data, for which the x and y coordinates of the current mouse location in user data coordinate is displayed in the lower right two boxes in the status bar at the bottom of the graphics display window. If Paper is selected, the coordinates displayed are the coordinates of the mouse pointer on the display using the current map scale to convert them to actual paper space units. If Geographic is selected, the user data coordinates are converted to latitude and longitude equivalents using the currently defined geographic projection. Note that the Geographic option will be disabled if no projection is currently defined. Display ListThis menu item is used to selectively turn off various components of the current display to permit faster definition of the full display without being impeded by the display of particular components such as large images or contour files. For example if a large image is to be displayed, it can be initially displayed using large image view increments, the image can then be turned off in the Display List and then the frame and border specifications modified until the desired layout is achieved. Once this has been done the image view increments can be reset to 1 and the image turned back on in the Display List. At this point the full display can be regenerated using the Display! menu item, or the Print menu item can be selected and the display regenerated in the background (which is much faster) when prompted. The items which can be toggled in the display list are:
Each of these items can be individually turned on or off. Also note that the Image, Posting and Contour items apply globally to multi-panel IP and Pseudosection displays. Clear SpecificationsThis menu item allows the user to individually clear display specifications relating to a particular component of the overall display without clearing all specifications using the File, New menu item. The components which may be reinitialised from this menu item are:
When clicked, the corresponding specifications for the selected component are reset to their default values.
