WinDisp Legend Menu

The Frame menu has the following appearance

This menu controls the appearance of the legend box component of the frame. The location of the legend box is specified using the Position of legend drop-down box. The available choices are:

  • None
  • Right
  • Left
  • Top
  • Bottom

This option permits the frame to be plotted with no legend box, with the legend box in the lower right corner, the lower left corner, the upper right corner and the lower left corner respectively. For the Right and Left choices the Legend box is added to the side of the region of interest specified in the Area menu and for Top and Bottom choices the Legend box is added to the top or bottom of the specified region.

The size of the text displayed in the Legend Box is controlled using the Text Size value and the size of the Legend Box is controlled by the values specified by the width and height values.

The separation between the axis lines around the region specified in the Area menu and the surrounding frame is controlled using the x and y axis margins.

In addition to the Legend Box a line of text can be displayed at the top of the frame by entering the text in the Headline Text text box and specifying a non-zero Headline Text Size value. This Headline Text will be centred across the total width of the frame and the space required for the text will be added to the height of the frame (ie it is not included in the y axis margin, so this value does not need to be increased to allow for the presence of the headline text).

Edit Legend

The text to be displayed in the legend box can be entered and/or modified by clicking on the Edit Legend command button. This brings up the Edit Legend Menu:

The Company Name, Survey Location and Description text items are displayed using twice the text size specified in the Legend Position menu. The Notes lines are displayed using the specified text size and all these text items are centred on the line within the legend box. No checking is performed to ensure that the text will fit within the box, so the user should confirm that the legend displays correctly and change the Legend Box size and/or the text size if required.

The remaining text items are displayed using the specified text size and are left oriented within the box in the legend. Again no checking that the specified text will fit in the available space is performed, so the user needs to confirm that the Legend displays properly and modify it if it does not.

The Scale and Date items are automatically supplied by WinDisp and cannot be changed.
