WinDisp Scale Bar Menu

The Scale bar menu has the following appearance

This menu provides control over the display and appearance of the map scale and colour legends as part of the frame. Also any Logo to be included in the frame is specified using this menu.

Map Scale Bar

The map scale bar is displayed if the Display Scale Bar tick box is checked and the length of the scale bar is determined by the value specified in the Length of Scale Bar text box. The position of the map scale bar is 2cm above the legend box for left and right positioning of the legend box, and 1cm above the base of the legend box and shifted left by the width of the legend box. In both cases the legend bar is 2mm wide and the labelling interval is chosen so that the labels are about 2cm apart.

Image Colour Bar

The image colour scale bar is displayed if the Display Colour Bar tick box is checked and the length of the colour bar is determined by the value specified in the Length of Colour Bar text box. The position of the colour legend scale bar is 5cm above the legend box for left and right positioning of the legend box, and 1cm above the base of the legend box and shifted left by the length of the colour legend bar. In both cases the legend bar is 5mm wide and the labelling interval is chosen so that the labels are about 2cm apart.

Sun Illumination Sphere

If the image is being displayed using either the real-time sun illumination or Colour-draped sun illumination options, a sun-illuminated hemisphere illuminated using the current inclination and azimuth values will be displayed immediately above the map scale bar. The inclination and azimuth values will be displayed immediately below the illuminated hemisphere. The display of the hemisphere can be disabled by unchecking the Display Sun Illumination check box. Note that when displaying colour-draped sun-illuminated images on the screen, the palette for the hemisphere will only be correct while it is being displayed on the screen. Once the hemisphere has been displayed, the colour palette will revert to that defined for the image and the hemisphere will not be correct in the screen display. When printing such images only the output generated using the HPGL/RTL and PostScript file output options will produce images with the correct palette for the hemisphere and colour bars.
