To Page Limits

This menu item is provided to allow the user to set the area limits to produce a layout which will fill the specified page size at a user specified scale. Note that the current settings for the margins, legend box size and legend location are used in determining the available display area. The options for specifying the target page size are:

  • A0
  • A1
  • A2
  • A3
  • A4
  • US Letter
  • Current View

The US Letter and A page sizes are defined using the standard page sizes with 0.6cm margins at top and bottom and 0.5 margins at left and right. If the Current View item is selected, the area limits are set to be the limits of the current zoom window. After clicking on one of these page size options, the user is prompted to enter a target map scale, and then a rectangle centred on the current mouse location is displayed in the graphics window. This zoom option may be cancelled by pressing the escape key. Once the page zoom rectangle is located over the desired area limits, the user may select the area by clicking on the left mouse button. Once clicked, the area limits are redefined and the layout using these new limits is then displayed.
